Week 9: Space + Art
Week 9: Space + Art
Spacecrafts have traveled to each moon in our galaxy over the past century. We have also explored two of the dwarf planets while also coming in contact with many comets and asteroids. W as a nation have only traveled to neighboring planets just like Mars. We focus on discovering other signs of life on different planets. We do this to gain knowledge. To see if we are the only ones in this galaxy. Maybe there are others on different planets. I think that the art can show this and create a beauty of the unknown. Artist are able to take advantage of this opportunity t see beyond the nothing of the universe.
Texts, Phone calls and emails all go up into space and then come back down so that we can retrieve them. Space is used so that we are able to connect with each other. pace is also the inspiration of many different. Outer space is so appealing to artist because its full of the unknown. Artist are able to create what they believe is space or the unexplored world.
I have never thought about the travel that a text message go through before we are able to see it. Space is very overwhelming to think about becasue of how vase space is. In the lecture, Professor Vesna spoke about the past of space.

Space has been under research for years now so that we have a better understanding what happens within space and also what its made up of. For example only 4% of space has been explored therefore there is 96% that is still waiting to be discovered. Space is similar to the ocean in that regard. Both space and the ocean both take up the majority of the world. There is way more ocean and space then land. Another example is that only 1% of the worlds ocean has been explored. Therefore, 99% of the worlds ocean has yet to be explored. Through all this research there is so much that we as a world have no knowledge of. The USA is constantly trying to find whats beyond.

One of the most well known space artists is Chesley Bonestell. Chesley is a space artist. In 1944 Bonestell became famous for the sights of the Saturn and its largest moon. This painting became famous for its giving insight to the unknown world. The painting, "A brush with the future" has given the people of america a sneak peek into the world of space.
Bonestell was born in 1888 and lived through many traumatic events, such as fires and earthquakes that happened in 1906. From a very young age, Bonestell knew that his passion was art of the unknown. People have said that Bonestells work has influenced many scientist, engineers, filmmakers and artist into their current careers.

Hey Veronica! I liked your blog this week, and specifically how much you talked about what you previously understood compared to now. I also thought about how we know so little about the ocean and it's comparison to space. I also forgot to think about what space means for electronic communication, so thanks for reminding me about it! I also liked how you connected people's need for knowledge to the kind of art that falls under this week's topic.
