Week 9: Space + Art

Image
Week 9: Space + Art Texts, Phone calls and emails all go up into space and then come back down so that we can retrieve them.  Space is used so that we are able to connect with each other. pace is also the inspiration of many different. Outer space is so appealing to artist because its full of the unknown. Artist are able to create what they believe is space or the unexplored world.  I have never thought about the travel that a text message go through before we are able to see it. Space is very overwhelming to think about becasue of how vase space is. In the lecture, Professor Vesna spoke about the past of space.  Space Art  Space has been under research for years now so that we have a better understanding what happens within space and also what its made up of. For example only 4% of space has been explored therefore there is 96% that is still waiting to be discovered. Space is similar to the ocean in that regard. Both space and the ocean both take up...

Week 8: NanoTech and Art

Week 8: NanoTech and Art Nanotechnology on a blood cell  Nanotechnology is a complex yet very exciting field. Through this form of technology, scientist are  able to insanely small amounts of chemical  vapor which includes being able to detect nano- particles  and nano-materials. Thus meaning that  we are able to manipulate particles in the world, possibly   making a small change here or there  creating new forms of certain particle values.  Nanotechnology has never been a topic that I have been interested in. I believe that it is to complex and complicated.  Nanotechnology is one of there areas of science that makes my head spin. However, after researching, I have realized that nanotechnology is used in many different areas of science. For example, nanotechnology is used in the medicine to help find damaged cells or signs of early cell disease. The medical field is recently been leaning towards nanotechnology ...

Event 3: Noise Aquarium

Event 3: Noise Aquarium  Hello all! Classmate and I at the event  In this weeks event, the focus of this workshop was to acknowledge that Plankton are consuming micro-plastics and this is tearing apart the food chain and environment of the ocean. This experiment was very interesting because I have never been to anything like it. We, as a class, were focusing on the nano level and micro level of this project. From plankton consuming micro plastic to the nano systems of the project and sound and even the slight movements that were created when saving the plankton in the art experiment. As I attended I learned so much about the ocean and whats at risk. I spoke with Professor Vesna after the show was over and asked her why this was so important to her and her calling. After speaking with her, my class mater and I had an amazing conversation. Seeing these plankton and hearing the underwater pollution was quite disturbing.  Biologist and marine biologist hav...

Week 7: Neurosci + Art

Week 7: Neurosci + Art Neurons  As a Psychology major, I find this to be extremely interesting. I personally have never found art to be associated with the brain but now being able to see to common variables through other art works, such as the human body and art, the brain is also included. I am constantly memorized by the actions of the nervous system, as the nervous system has full control over the signals sent to each nerve in the human body. I am also interested in the way that the brain communicates with other areas of the body, therefore I find this topic very interesting. Neuroscience is a tremendously complicated and beautiful science. Through Neuroscience we are able to detect how neuron fire through the brain. The brain is connected to varies parts of the body allowing certain neurons sent to areas of the body. Neuroscience is describe as the science of the nervous system which is connected to the brain. The nervous system is one of the most important ...
